Took the afternoon off and ran down to Deltaville today with a friend whose daughter was participating in a Wooden Boat building class at the Maritime Museum.
They were building 12′ crabbing skiffs in the traditional manner with cross planked bottoms and planked sides. It was great to see teenagers engaged with tools and learning skills that will any of them a lifetime.
The Museum has been rebuilt after a devastating fire a few years ago and is well worth a visit if you are in the area.
After embarrassing his 16 year old daughter we rolled down to Urbanna to check on Santosha for the first time in a few months and take some pics for the insurance company.
Everything was good, the engine started first time! I have to schedule a time to have her out and paint the bottom, paint the non slip and give the topsides a good polish.
Should be on the hard in a couple of weeks, hopefully only for a month, then back out exploring the bay. Last year sucked due to other commitments but I am determined to get back to some sailing and a little lead maintenance!
She’s looking good, Adam! Hope you are able to enjoy the bay more this year!
