The Allied Seawind 32 is a Thomas Gilmer designed Ketch. She is exceptionally seaworthy with a low balanced rig and a long shallow keel. I believe that there were 120 boats built, mainly Ketches, but a few Cutters were built as well, all but one are still afloat… She has an incredible owners group of loyal and sometimes fanatical Sailors.
She has been a restoration project so far although fundamentally sound. I will detail all the work on another page.
Hull Type: Long Keel……………………………………….Rig: Masthead Ketch
Length Overall: 32′ 6″……………………………………..Draft: 4′ 6″
Beam: 10′ 6″………………………………………………….Disp: 14,900 lbs
Sail Area: 555 Sq……………………………………………Ballast: 5500 lbs
SA/Disp: 14.72………….Bal/Disp: 36.23%…………..Disp/Length: 401.16

Great start on your blog. Since we live nearly one hundred miles north of you, I’m eager to read about your adventures in that part of the bay. We attend a rendezvous in Deltaville every year (first weekend of June this year) so we are slightly familiar with parts of it, but hope to explore much more this summer and in subsequent years.
You have a great boat also – I’ve admired Allied Seawind for a long time. We’ve owned our boat for 11.5 years now, and it’s taken quite a bit of effort to achieve the level of comfort, convenience, and reliability for cruising that we wish. Still a work in progress, as all older boats are, but the work is very satisfying.
Hope to bump into you on the water some day!

Adam, we live in Deale, MD 20 miles south of Annapolis. We’ll be in Deltaville (Dozier’s Regatta Point Marina) on 4 June through the weekend, probably leaving Sunday 8 June. Please join us sometime during the weekend – we a fun crowd, and not exclusively Watkins yachts either – some of our members have moved on to other boats, but still join us for the rendezvous. Nice people, every one.

I think the LOA figure needs correction: 31′ 7″ is the official spec I believe.
I just became the owner of #102. Looking forward to my Seawind adventures.
